Vancouver 4, Colorado 1. In Denver. Sixth loss in a row. At least the Blue Jackets could always point to the fact that we were an expansion team, although a mismanaged one, during our futile years. The Avalanche have a much deeper history of accomplishment than Columbus, but they are falling far and it won’t be easy to get up. The Islanders are screwed up too, but you can point to ownership problems (a former owner is in prison) and Mike Milbury. The way things are going in the remaining two weeks of the season, the Avalanche might challenge the Islanders for total ineptitude. Denver fans are fair, not demanding, but they won’t turn out for a bad team. And this is a bad team.
