And I’m not talking about Syracuse. Things are getting tighter in the Western Conference, with Dallas and St. Louis both winning last night. Tonight, while our boys in blue are up in Detroit, several other key games will be taking place. The Kings host Minnesota and the Predators leave the friendly confines of Nashville and head up to play an angry Flyers team. Edmonton is at Toronto and St. Louis is at Florida. Things have been working out for the Blue Jackets lately with the “right” teams winning their games. Can this good luck continue?
Detroit too, is angry after being crushed by Nashville earlier in the week. We’ve going with Rusty Klesla, but it might be a good thing to consider Christian Backman to get some offense at the blue line. Detroit plays a relatively calm game and the need for tough guys is less than the need for guys who can create chances. The Blue Jackets play a style that takes care of their own end first and grab the chances as they appear. Well, the Red Wings control the puck so well that the only way you get the puck from them is to win face-offs.
