It would have been nice to grab Tim Connolloy today, but he has re-upped with Buffalo for two years at $4.5 million each. I look at this and the trade of Pascal Leclaire and I believe Columbus didn’t think that Leclaire was going to be healthy enough to get his job back and was far too expensive to be a backup. Buffalo obviously believes that Connolly will get healthy and remain so for another two years and gave him a nice raise.
I agree with Scott Howson on this one. Pascal Leclaire may very well become the type of player that he was projected to be. It will just have to be in Ottawa. But I don’t know what the Sabres see in the medical charts of Connolly to sign him under current economic conditions instead of trading him.
